For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a ‘BIG GIRL’. I tried several different “weight loss” programs (counting calories, restricting food, counting points, weighing and measuring, weight loss drinks – to name a few.) I sometimes would get results. Twice, I lost 70 pounds counting points and counting calories. THE WEIGHT ALWAYS CAME BACK AND MORE.

Then in 2014 a long time high school friend introduced me to a wonder BALANCED LIFESTYLE. This lifestyle takes healthy eating and regular physical activity and merges then together to fit easily into life. My journey has not been perfect. In fact, I have had lots of bumps over the years. What makes this different is, I am able to recover from those bumps faster. My weight has fluctuated up and down. It has never gone higher than when I first started in September 2014. There will be more bumps along the way, because this is living!
LET’S TALK about the FOOD side of this… I eat REAL FOOD. I eat pizza, spaghetti, mexican, steak, all sorts of vegetables and fruits. I NEVER feel deprived or hungry. I have variety. After all, isn’t variety the spice of life?! (Side note: for dinner tonight, we are having Teriyaki Chicken & Rice.) I have 5 little meals a day. Eating small amounts more often is a huge reason for my energy being high. I always was sluggish with just 3 meals. Often, I would snack on crap to help boost up my energy. Unhealthy snacks is a quick energy fix that had more calories that I needed. This old way of eating is a huge reason for me being overweight.
LET’S TALK about PHYSICAL ACTIVITY… I workout 5-7 days a week. This is dependant on which program I am doing and what is going on in my life. My workouts are 20 minutes to 1 hour. I CHOOSE which program I do. Currently, I started Shaun T’s latest Transform:20. (What a great 20 minutes!!!) In the past, I hardly worked out. I did a bit of walking. I joined several gyms. NOTHING LASTED. I need my workouts to be convenient. Driving to a gym or bundling up for the weather just isn’t convenient. Now I get to workout at home. I workout when I want too. It is so easy to put aside excuses now and get it done!
LET’S TALK about SUPPORT… along with my family, I have a huge support group. I affectionately refer to them as MY FITFAM. This is a group of women who are on their own journey’s to be the healthiest version of themselves. I can celebrate my success and share my struggles and I am there in return.
For me this is a WINNING COMBINATION!

Life is busy. We all have responsibilities that need our attention. I’ve found what WORKS for me. I’ve found BALANCE with living a GOOD LIFE and HEALTHY EATING and PHYSICAL ACTIVITY and a WICKED SUPPORT GROUP.
These past few months, I’ve struggled. I fell off the proverbial wagon. I allowed emotions to lead me. Then, a few good friends reached out to check on me. This was exactly what I needed and it came at exactly when I needed it. I believe there is no such thing as a coincidence. And as i mentioned above, I’ve started this new program.
Life is about TRUSTING the process and BELIEVING in oneself. I am TRUSTING & BELIEVING in myself and the process.
