Why should any of us feel deprived and miserable while those around us are enjoying the merriment of the holiday?
The answer is we should not be depriving ourselves of anything. Deprivation leads to binge eating because of our emotions and feelings like loneliness.
I am a HUGE believer that nothing should be off limits unless it is seriously harmful for me. I do have the occasional cookie or sweet or salty goodness (that is my weakness for sure). I don’t have huge bowls of it or indulge everyday. Moderation is the key!
5 Tips To Surviving The Holiday Food Fest
- Plan ahead and stick to your healthy eating plan during the week
- Size matters – use a smaller plate when you are able
- Drink lots of water and go easy on the sugary or alcoholic drinks
- Go for a walk after dinner or have a dance party and include the kids
- Get your rest – 7 to 10 hours a night or have an afternoon nap to keep your energy up
