My life changed in 2014 when I joined my very first challenge group!

Being plus size for as long as I can remember. Becoming fit was something that was a destination.  Working out and eat well was a way to become health.  I always thought, once I was “health”, my life would really start; I would be happy; I would have the job I wanted.  So much was going to change for me “once I was health”. I never realized how a challenge group could help me succeed.

For many years, I dabbled with working out (gyms, home workouts, walking to mention a few) and this diet or that diet.  I found some success… never once did I achieve reach my desired destination, aka goal.

Begin healthy is multi-faceted…

PHYSICAL HEALTH is usually the go to “being healthy”;

Then there is MENTAL HEALTH.  This is about understanding the behaviors which lead to weight gain and self-sabotage;

Finally, there is SPIRITUAL HEALTH.  This is knowing and accepting spiritual beliefs.

Because I focused on how I my life would be better once I arrived at my fitness destination, I missed out on the complete journey.

Weights… yah right!  That was my old thinking.  My new thinking allowed me to start and complete programs like 21 Day Fix and Cize.

Challenge Group Support Is Key To My Success

Then I joined my first challenge group.  It was here, I learned how physical activity can increase my inner strength.  I started doing workouts that used to intimidate me.

It was here, I learned how to eat to achieve weight loss with exercise.  Before, I thought I needed to eat very little to achieve weight loss. This is totally untrue.  I need to fuel my body to lose fat and build muscle.

It was here, I learned I needed to rethink my beliefs.  I used think, if life got tough, it was okay to quit. (Something, I learned in grade 5 from my gym teacher).  With self-reflection, I was able to change limiting beliefs that were holding me back.

It was here, I learned to embrace my spirituality.  I used to hide my spiritual beliefs. Then, I learned this is another muscle that needs work.  I need to embrace it and share it as guided.

My biggest takeaway from being in challenge groups is SUPPORT!

The support I received from my coach and fellow challengers is AMAZING!  I was encouraged when I did well. I was encouraged to keep going when things got tough. When I wasn’t part of a challenge group, I struggled.  I had excuses to not workout; not eat according to my goals. I would slide back into my old patterns that were comfortable. After a few of these missteps, I know how I what my life to look like and how I’ll life my healthy lifestyle.

I ask you… Are you READY TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
